2013 NCAA Bracket Predictions: Rebels Running Out Of Time

by Matt Woods | March 5th, 2013

Ole Miss started the conference season 6-0, and one point appeared solidly in the tournament. Even after faltering slightly since that point, our 2013 NCAA bracket predictions still gave the Rebels about 50/50 odds to make the field as recently as last week.

However, Mississippi lost to archrival Mississippi State on Saturday, and to say the Bulldogs have struggled this season would be an understatement. MSU entered that contest having lost 13 straight SEC games, and the Bulldog’s most recent RPI rating ranks 226th nationally.

The loss heavily damaged Ole Miss’ tournament resume, and the Rebels’ odds to make the field in our most recent NCAA bracket predictions have fallen to just 22%.

Neither of Mississippi’s remaining opponents will make the NCAA tournament according to our 2013 bracket predictions, so barring an SEC tournament title the clock may have struck midnight on what at one point looked like a dream season for the Rebels.
