NCAA Tournament Bubble Teams – 03/05/07
Here’s a rundown of every team on the bubble and what it needs to do to (virtually) guarantee an NCAA Tournament bid. Teams are listed in order of likelihood to receive an at-large. Those listed as “Win Tournament” still have a chance at receiving an at-large bid with a loss in the final, but it’s no sure thing.
USC: Beat Stanford in the first round of the Pac-10 Tournament. (probable bid anyway)
Villanova: Beat DePaul in the first round of the Big East Tournament. (probable bid anyway)
Georgia Tech: Beat Wake Forest in the first round of the ACC Tournament. (probable bid anyway)
Stanford: Beat USC in the first round of the Pac-10 Tournament (probable bid anyway)
Air Force: Beat Wyoming in the first round of the MWC Tournament.
Michigan State: Reach the Big Ten Tournament Semifinal (beat Northwestern and Wisconsin).

Playing the Waiting Game
Old Dominion: Hope that Georgetown goes deep in the Big East Tournament.
Drexel: Hope that Syracuse and Villanova go deep in the Big East Tournament, and that the Committee recognizes the Dragons’ non-conference #5 RPI and #8 SOS.
Missouri State: Hope that the Committee has some sympathy for a year ago (and gives extra credit for beating Wisconsin on a neutral floor).
Appalachian State: Hope that Virginia, Vanderbilt, and VCU win their Tournaments, that the Committee recognizes the Mountaineers’ non-conference #7 RPI and #4 SOS, and notices that Donte Minter wasn’t eligible during two of App. State’s non-conference losses.
Bradley: Hope that the Committee decides the 6th-place RPI conference deserves a fourth team.

Texas Tech should get a bid for sure after the texas win

With a cupcake schedule and 8-6 in a really weak SEC. Florida had its chances many times (LSU, MS State, etc). One good win doesn’t mean anything.
Florida only has 3 top 100 RPI wins. If that cuts it this year, then I really have to question the integrity of the Selection Committee.
